    TRUE Strength with the Kettlebell – How Kettlebell Training is an effective addition AND alternative to barbell & dumbbells! The kettlebell is unique when it comes to strength training. The “off-set” design allows for the body to work throughout all phases of a lift. It doesn’t take a lot of weight to get the same results when using a kettlebell, because the stabilizers never get a break pressing overhead or during simple carries or the full body get–up’s. Front squats take on a new meaning of functional training when using kettlebells, because of the additional loading of the core. And with various ways of holding the kettlebell you can even make a light kettlebell feel heavy! Nnanna Egbujiobi focuses on helping people transform themselves through life-altering experiences that enrich their daily lives. As a performer, Nnanna has opened for big music acts such as 50cent and B2K. Dana Anderson

Dana is a Power Music Master Trainer and has been in the fitness industry for over 13 years. Her passion is motivating and challenging people to be their best, including herself. She is extremely well rounded, teaching multiple formats including: kickboxing, strength training, yoga, Pilates, bootcamp, sports conditioning and cycle. She is also an avid runner, completing multiple marathons, 50 mile trail races, and recently a 100 mile trail race. She also has her degree in Exercise Science from BYU.

 

Jesse Breslerman

Jesse sees Life and Yoga as one and the same: a practice of gratitude and intention. He is a 500hr eRYT and has studied, taught, and lived in yoga communities across North America for nearly 15 years. Her passion, enthusiasm, and experience is for fitness and dance for people of all ages. Kelly specializes in many of the Zumba Fitness programs and has presented in over 36 countries. Brian Drummond

Brian is a US Navy Veteran with over 20 years of leadership and coaching experience. While earning his degree in physics, he interned at NASA in Langley, VA and Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA. After being struck by a drunk driver in 2009, Brian’s world was forever changed. The life he had “planned” was ruined due to the physical injuries; but, from the experience, he ultimately learned to turn his focus from training the brain to expanding the mind. Inspired by his sister, Kimberly Spreen-Glick, Brian began a soulful journey with incredible teachers like Dr Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson, Robert Holden, PhD and Louise Hay, to name a few. Lauren George is the creator of PulsePointe barre an innovative and challenging cardio barre format. After completing her undergraduate and master’s degree in Sport Management, Lauren ran the fitness programs at The Baylor Tom Landry Fitness Center, Florida State University, and ToddPilates. Her true passion has always been mentoring other instructors. Josh Leve

Josh Leve is the Founder & CEO of the Association of Fitness Studios. AFS’ mission is to provide studio owners and entrepreneurial fitness professionals with the platform to effectively start, manage, and grow their businesses. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Elliott grew up being extremely skinny and bullied from grammar school to college. Heather Winia

Heather S. Winia, ACE Certified (1994), THEGROOVE Master Trainer (2011), Adjunct Professor in Movement Science at Grand Valley State University (2005), Holistic Health Counselor (2005) and BA in Dance from Hope College (1991). Heather has presented workshops and taught classes in the world of health, wellness and fitness for over 20 years. After directing a corporate fitness program for 12 years, she formed her own business as a holistic health coach and fitness instructor. Variety is the spice of life and that is why she enjoys teaching many modes of movement…GROOVE, yoga, Pilates, body sculpting, outdoor cross training and SUP workouts. She loves sharing her passion for vibrant, authentic living by combining meaningful mind-body connections with functional, purposeful movements. Abrea Wooten

Abrea has over 15 years of teaching experience in the Fitness industry. Certified through ACE and AFAA, she has served as a Personal Trainer, Metabolic Technician, Group Fitness Manager, and Fitness Presenter / Educator. Her passion lies in coaching and developing new and seasoned Instructors, Endurance multi-sports and training, and creating a love of fitness in her participants through her edgy, yet authentic, style and sense of humor.

 

Amber Zenith

Since the beginning of my fitness journey my passion has always been group exercise! After teaching and taking hundreds of classes, my favorite format became dance fitness thanks to my now business partner Emily Nelson. As a non-dancer I began to choreograph simple/base fitness moves to music instead of dance moves and created a HIIT style choreographed interval training class. With my marketing experience I branded the class and alongside my business partner Emily Nelson, we created “High Fitness”!

Q: What is Empower?

A: EMPOWER! Fitness Events are designed especially for fitness professionals as well as fitness enthusiasts. Through these regional weekend events, we, alongside the community and a team of world-renowned fitness presenters, celebrate fitness, continuing education, motivation and the desire for an overall healthy way of life for all.

The events are produced by Global Fitness Solutions, LLC and hosted in partnership with Life Time Fitness, the premier Healthy Way of Life company, in the United States.

Whether you are a fitness professional in need of your CECs or an enthusiast who simply wants to exercise with the best fitness presenters in the world, EMPOWER! is exactly where you need to be!

Q: Who should attend?

A: Anyone who has an interest in fitness and a healthy way of life!

Q: Why is Thursday considered a "special event" day?

A: Thursday, September 22 and Friday, September 23 are considered Pre-Conference event days.  When you register for the EMPOWER! conference weekend, Thursday and the morning/day is not included in the weekend event package (Fri-Sun).  If you are interested in participating in an intensive or certification on Thursday or Friday, you will need to seperately register for each individual class.

Q: How does course selection work?

A: For EMPOWER! upon registration you will be able to select your sessions. We limit the number of registrations to ensure as many attendees as possible receive all their first choice selections at the event and can easily make changes throughout the weekend at will.

Q: When can I check in?

A: You can check in at the event registration desk starting each day at the following times:

Q: What will I receive at check in?


A: You will receive your check-in packet containing a schedule, wristband or ticket, and a goody bag.



Q: What should I bring?


A: Bring a photo i.d., your registration confirmation letter, exercise apparel, a water bottle, and money for lunch and shopping at the expo.



Q: How do I get a receipt?


A:  If you register online, you can print a copy of your receipt at the time of registration. If you mail or fax your registration, you can pick up a copy of your receipt at the event.

 

CECs

Q: What are CECs?


A: CEC stands for Continuing Education Credit (also referred to as CEU or Continuing Education Unit). You receive CECs by attending fitness-related educational workshops. Typically, certification organizations require that instructors earn a certain number of CECs to maintain and renew their certificates. Check with your certifying organization regarding specific requirements.



Q: How many CECs will I get for each class?


A: Each workshop equals .1/1.0 to .2/2.0 CECs from ACE, NASM, AFAA, AEA, AAAI/ISMA and NETA.



Q: How do I get my CECs for attending this event?


A: You can pick up your certificate at the event.
