Mandy Bear

Mandy helps seasoned and new instructors to pack classes with participants. Her goals and objectives for these instructors are to: help them take the function of the exercises they practice in class into actions that improve and encourage lifetime movement, help the Beachbody LIVE formats become a well known name, and to provide top notch workshops so that the instructors leave feeling successful. Mandy is a Master Trainer with Beachbody LIVE, a certified Group Fitness instructor and a Certified Personal Trainer.

 

Kelly Bullard

Kelly is an International fitness educator and a Zumba® Education Specialist (ZES) since 2009. She holds degrees in Exercise and Sports Science (Health and Physical Education) and a Master’s degree in Sport Administration. Her passion, enthusiasm, and experience is for fitness and dance for people of all ages. Kelly specializes in many of the Zumba Fitness programs and has presented in over 36 countries. She is in several Zumba Fitness DVD’s, including being featured in the Aqua Zumba Volume 6 DVD. Kelly holds a variety of certifications in many areas of fitness, and is a continuing education provider for AEA, AAAI/ISMA, AFAA & ACE.

 

Heather Corndorf

A professionally trained dancer and choreographer, Heather C knows form and function. Beginning in Chicago and now in Minneapolis, Heather has taught group fitness classes at Equinox, Crunch, Gorilla Sports, Calhoun Beach Club, and Lifetime Fitness as a Master Instructor. Outside of the gym Heather trains and teaches at corporate and charity events, schools, and fitness conferences. She has been featured in consumer and commercial fitness DVDs and videos. Heather has a BFA in dance from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and is ACE certified.

 

Brian Drummond

Brian is a US Navy Veteran with over 20 years of leadership and coaching experience. While earning his degree in physics, he interned at NASA in Langley, VA and Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA. After being struck by a drunk driver in 2009, Brian’s world was forever changed. The life he had “planned” was ruined due to the physical injuries; but, from the experience, he ultimately learned to turn his focus from training the brain to expanding the mind. Inspired by his sister, Kimberly Spreen-Glick, Brian began a soulful journey with incredible teachers like Dr Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson, Robert Holden, PhD and Louise Hay, to name a few. Brian currently dedicates the majority of his time serving as the CCO (Chief Compassion Officer) of Karma Warriors, a community and lifestyle brand that celebrates kindness and encourages the world to follow the simple philosophy, “Choose Love. Light up the World.”

 

David Freeman

David was named Life Time Fitness Personal Trainer of the Year in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and has been awarded Life Time Fitness Most Valuable Trainer in both 2012 and 2013 when he led his TEAM training programs to #1 in the nation. David is also a TRX Master Level trainer, educating and training proper TRX form and technique to other trainers around the nation. He is a passionate leader and brings an extraordinary talent and energy to Alpha 1 Training.

 

Jules Fultz

Jules Fultz is the Program Director for POP Pilates and an International Master Trainer with decades of teaching experience under her microphone belt. She used her teaching experience to guide her in the role of group fitness manager for a large club chain developing programs and leading a team of fitness professionals in 3 major cities in Texas. Rob Glick

Rob is the senior director of programming innovation for group fitness, yoga and indoor cycle at Life Time. He started EMPOWER! with his wife Kimberly Glick in 2007. He was named the 2006 International Presenter of the Year by CanFit Pro and the 2005 Best Male Presenter by ECA. He holds a B.S. in exercise science and continues to bring cutting-edge education and programming to the fitness and wellness industry. He he developed and co-created some of the industries top programs and been a master trainer with some of the most prestigious brands in the fitness industry. Corey Grenz

Corey Grenz is a Master Level Personal Trainer at Life Time Fitness. He’s been in the industry since 1994 and has worked numerous jobs within the health club setting. Regarding education he has a Masters Degree in Kinesiology, numerous certifications related to fitness and has received continuing education and mentorships from some of the best minds in the industry. Regarding his personal fitness Corey can relate to the average fitness enthusiast as has lost over 50 lbs of fat and has kept it off for 20 years. In addition he can relate to more advanced fitness enthusiasts as he has completed in over a half a dozen physique competitions. By combining education with experience, Corey helps fitness enthusiasts as well as fitness professionals navigate through the endless amount of information and gives them the direct knowledge and accountability needed so they succeed in a timely manner.

 

Paula Gustafson

Currently the National Indoor Cycle/Endurance Operations Manager for Life Time, Paula has held many positions over her 15 years in Fitness. Her passions are Dance, Kickboxing, and Strength. She believes her mission in life is to empower, uplift, and spread healing love and light to the world healthfully and holistically.

 

Katie Haggerty

Katie Haggerty has become a popular member of the professional fitness industry since 1999 through her unique brand and delivery. She is well known for her ability to create a balance of innovation, breakdown and functionality through a signature style of fun. Katie is a National Group Fitness Brand Manager, co-creator and instructor of numerous developmental workshops to grow the Life Time Fitness brand. She is a presenter at national fitness conferences and motivational speaker. She holds a BA in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota and is ACE certified.

 

Meredith Higgins

Meredith Higgins was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Yeehaw! She danced competitively in jazz, tap, ballet, and modern/lyrical solos and company pieces for 14 years with Kitty Carter Dance Factory. She won awards such as Teen Dancer of the Year from New York City Dance Alliance and West Coast Dance Explosion. After graduating Indiana University with a Bachelor's in Voice Performance and Music Education, she spent 3 years abroad teaching music, choreographing musicals, and received her Actor’s Equity Association card. She began teaching BollyX® in New York City through Plus One, quickly became a national trainer and currently is the National Community Manager for BollyX® in the NYC headquarter office!

 

Alex Isaly

Alex has 20+ years experience as a creator/lead trainer for several national fitness programs, elite athlete, author, speaker, and nutritionist. His current projects include creator of KettleWorX® DVD workout series, Signature Brand Ambassador for LifeTime Fitness, Spartan Strong™, a member of IDEA’s Advisory Board and VIP founding member for Men's Health Fitness Council. Jan Johnson

Jan-Johnson, 500hr eRYT, is a National Yoga Teacher Trainer registered with the Yoga Alliance. Teaching for over 20 years Jan has developed a love for all things Yoga and feels that if you love something you must share it! Jan serves as a mentor and trainer for yoga teachers and students throughout the Twin Cities and Nationwide. Jan-Johnson Yoga provides ACE continuing education for Yin Yoga Teachers as well as deeper perspective of the Yin practice for students studying the art of Yin. Jan's background of study and teaching include, Vinyasa, Hatha,Yin, Ashtanga Yoga as well as meditation and tribal dance.

 

Clare Karp

Clare Karp began her career in the Fitness Industry in 2005 teaching Spinning, Pilates and group fitness classes. She has a background of competitive swimming, basketball and triathlons. In 2013 she completed a 200hr Yoga teacher training and followed that with Stand up Paddle Board Yoga certification. In 2014 Clare took her love for water and fitness creating Float Your Mat, a floating studio that offers yoga and fitness classes in pools though out Ohio and Kentucky. Clare has spent the previous 2 years growing her business teaching over 200 floating classes. Float Your Mat is a registered teaching studio through Yoga Alliance and BOGAFiT certifications. When not at a pool teaching Clare enjoys time at home relaxing or outdoors on an adventure with her husband Justin and their four children.

 

Erica Lewandowski

Erica Lewandowski is a POUND Icon from Milwaukee WI, who found her passion teaching fitness classes 8 years ago. Erica is a certified ACE and AFAA Group Fitness Instructor, and has been teaching POUND for 3 years. In her free time she loves to travel and enjoys running and cycling.

 

Aimee Nicotera

Aimee Nicotera has been involved in the health and fitness industry for 20 years, as a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, health educator and fitness director. Aimee holds a BS degree in Nutrition Science and a MS degree in Health Education, as well as numerous fitness certifications, including those through ACSM, ACE, and AFAA. In addition to having served as a Group Fitness Manager for Equinox Fitness Clubs and Fitness Director for Canyon Ranch in Lenox, MA, Aimee is the creator of the two fitness DVD series, Take 20!® and 2X2 Conditioning®.

JR Reis

JR has been a fitness junkie ever since he was five or six years old, when his mom taught Jazzercise with big, poofy 90's hair and hot pink leg warmers. She was an inspiration to JR and he has been teaching indoor cycle classes for more than seven years. Q: Why is Thursday considered a "special event" day?

A: Thursday, September 22 and Friday, September 23 are considered Pre-Conference event days.  When you register for the EMPOWER! conference weekend, Thursday and the morning/day is not included in the weekend event package (Fri-Sun).  If you are interested in participating in an intensive or certification on Thursday or Friday, you will need to seperately register for each individual class.

Q: How does course selection work?

A: For EMPOWER! upon registration you will be able to select your sessions. We limit the number of registrations to ensure as many attendees as possible receive all their first choice selections at the event and can easily make changes throughout the weekend at will.

A: You can check in at the event registration desk starting each day at the following times:

A: You will receive your check-in packet containing a schedule, wristband or ticket, and a goody bag.



Q: What should I bring?


A: Bring a photo i.d., your registration confirmation letter, exercise apparel, a water bottle, and money for lunch and shopping at the expo.



Q: How do I get a receipt?


A:  If you register online, you can print a copy of your receipt at the time of registration. If you mail or fax your registration, you can pick up a copy of your receipt at the event.

 

CECs

Q: What are CECs?


A: CEC stands for Continuing Education Credit (also referred to as CEU or Continuing Education Unit). You receive CECs by attending fitness-related educational workshops. Typically, certification organizations require that instructors earn a certain number of CECs to maintain and renew their certificates. Check with your certifying organization regarding specific requirements.



Q: How many CECs will I get for each class?


A: Each workshop equals .1/1.0 to .2/2.0 CECs from ACE, NASM, AFAA, AEA, AAAI/ISMA and NETA.



Q: How do I get my CECs for attending this event?
