Rawlins Apilado

Rawlins Apilado is a Master Trainer of a spectrum of formats for Beachbody and LifeTime Fitness. His certifications span from MMA to MindBody, Strength Conditioning to Cycling. He currently is a 5 Star ELI for LifeTime and holds several postitions such as Personal Trainer, Metabolic Technician and Cycle Boutique Manager.

 

Emily Booth

Emily Booth is the National Indoor Cycle Program Manager at Life Time Fitness where she is thrilled to fuse her passion for cycling, group fitness, music, and performance together by providing education, inspiration and support for Indoor Cycling instructors across the country. With a degree in Vocal Performance and Theater, her mission is to make exercise as entertaining as it is effective-putting the "fun" back in "function". As a self-described "Endurance Junkie", when she is not in the studio you can find her on the trails training and racing in ultra distance running events like the Life Time Leadville Trail 100.

 

Katie Haggerty

Katie Haggerty has become a popular member of the professional fitness industry through her unique brand and delivery. She is well known for her ability to create a balance of innovation, breakdown and functionality through a signature style of fun that creates an experience unlike any other. Katie is the Signature Program Manager and co-creator of Warrior Sculpt and LifeBarre, including developmental workshops, to grow the Life Time Fitness brand. She is a presenter at multiple national fitness conferences, specializing in yoga, dance, step and motivational speaking, and has been awarded the 2014 EMPOWER! Fitness Conference Female Presenter of the Year. Katie holds a BA in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota and is ACE certified.

 

Carrie Harper

Carrie Harper is a Master Trainer, Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor, and Health Coach certified through the American Council on Exercise. Carrie has been in the field of fitness since 1994 and health coaching since 2004. Since 2004, Carrie has helped coach thousands of people around the world in weight loss, nutrition, functional fitness, injury healing, and injury prevention. Carrie created and designed the Diastasis Recti Recovery System, which has helped thousands of people in 37 countries recover from this common injury. She has been published in Four Points News, Q Magazine, and Mom and Baby Magazine. Carrie wrote a guide for educators’ study of Health and PE through Praxis and is a member of the Leander ISD Student Health Advisory Council. She is also a Master Trainer for Beachbody Live, focusing on PiYo and P90X.

 

Abraham Hernandez

Abraham Hernandez was born and raised in Mexico and has lived in the US since 2010. He has been a Zumba Education Specialist since 2006 and has been in the fitness industry for more than 11 years as a gym owner and a manager and fitness instructor. He is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, AFAA Certified Group Exercise Instructor and AEA Certified Aquatic Professional.

 

Shannen Miller

Shannen Miller holds a BS from Texas A&M University and a M. Ed.in Education. She currently oversees the University of Texas at San Antonio group fitness & personal training program, teaching multiple group fitness classes per week, and overseeing the hiring and training of all new group fitness instructors at her facility. She is a Master Trainer for Barre Above® and holds certifications through PulsePointe barre, YogaFit (Level 1), Schwinn Cycling, Peak Pilates (Mat 1), and AFAA (GX).

 

Aimee Nicotera

Aimee Nicotera has been involved in the health and fitness industry for 20 years, as a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, health educator and fitness director. Aimee holds a BS degree in Nutrition Science and a MS degree in Health Education, as well as numerous fitness certifications, including those through ACSM, ACE, and AFAA. In addition to having served as a Group Fitness Manager for Equinox Fitness Clubs and Fitness Director for Canyon Ranch in Lenox, MA, Aimee is the creator of the two fitness DVD series, Take 20!® and 2X2 Conditioning®.

 

JR Reis

JR has been a fitness junkie ever since he was five or six years old, when his mom taught Jazzercise with big, poofy 90's hair and hot pink leg warmers. She was an inspiration to JR and he has been teaching indoor cycle classes for more than seven years. For him, it's the energy of the students, music, and members exceeding fitness goals that keeps him coming back for more. He prides himself in his authentic and positive vibes in his classes.

 

Tory Schaefer

Dedicated to the pursuit of education and helping people to develop a better quality of life for themselves, Tory discovered that his love for expression and theatrics could be utilized to create classes that support the awakening of self connection and empowerment for any individual open to the experience. Lucy Waite

Lucy Waite, MS, is an assistant instructional professor of health and kinesiology at Texas A&M University. With nearly a decade in the industry, Lucy shares her passion and knowledge for fitness as a national presenter for Schwinn® and BOSU®. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, and master’s degree in health education. Certifications: AFAA, NSCA-CPT

Q: Why is Thursday considered a "special event" day?

A: Thursday, September 22 and Friday, September 23 are considered Pre-Conference event days.  When you register for the EMPOWER! conference weekend, Thursday and the morning/day is not included in the weekend event package (Fri-Sun).  If you are interested in participating in an intensive or certification on Thursday or Friday, you will need to seperately register for each individual class.

Q: How does course selection work?

A: For EMPOWER! upon registration you will be able to select your sessions. We limit the number of registrations to ensure as many attendees as possible receive all their first choice selections at the event and can easily make changes throughout the weekend at will.

A: You can check in at the event registration desk starting each day at the following times:

Q: What will I receive at check in?


A: You will receive your check-in packet containing a schedule, wristband or ticket, and a goody bag.



Q: What should I bring?


A: Bring a photo i.d., your registration confirmation letter, exercise apparel, a water bottle, and money for lunch and shopping at the expo.



Q: How do I get a receipt?


A:  If you register online, you can print a copy of your receipt at the time of registration. If you mail or fax your registration, you can pick up a copy of your receipt at the event.

 

CECs

Q: What are CECs?


A: CEC stands for Continuing Education Credit (also referred to as CEU or Continuing Education Unit). You receive CECs by attending fitness-related educational workshops. Typically, certification organizations require that instructors earn a certain number of CECs to maintain and renew their certificates. Check with your certifying organization regarding specific requirements.



Q: How many CECs will I get for each class?


A: Each workshop equals .1/1.0 to .2/2.0 CECs from ACE, NASM, AFAA, AEA, AAAI/ISMA and NETA.



Q: How do I get my CECs for attending this event?


A: You will get CEC's in an email the weekend of the event.  Please look for it coming from Global Fitness Solutions.  NOTE:   If you do not see it by the end of the day Sunday, please check in your junk mail.
