Regardless of the type of stretching techniques applied, there are many people who never seem to improve their flexibility. Maybe the practical results are consistent with what the research is dictating. In this class, we will look at the nervous systems involvement in muscle tightness and decipher why many people do not achieve positive effects from stretching. Trainers will gain an understanding of how the nervous system regulates motion, and how limitations in flexibility may actually be part of the body’s protective mechanism. By understanding the body’s regulatory mechanisms, you will gain a better understanding of why many people do not improve with stretching. You will also gain alternative options for improving flexibility, while recognizing that stretching may not be the only answer for increasing ROM. This session is a must for every trainer!

A billion dollar industry. Many clients come to us complaining of low back pain. In the industry, we are taught various exercise programs designed to “strengthen the muscles of the core” in order to reduce low back pain. As trainers, we recognize the significance of abdominal strengthening, however, many times abdominal training alone is not enough to help reduce low back pain. Many times, the symptoms may actually get worse. In these situations, where clients continue to complain of back or SI-joint pain, trainers must take a deeper look at the cause. In this class, trainers will be given tools not only to assess for core/spinal stability, but also to look at how imbalances in the hips, legs and feet can place increased stress on the spine. In this class, trainers will learn a unique approach to achieve spinal stability. Trainers will be provided with a unique approach to helping their clients that complain of back pain. This session is a must for every trainer!

Are you “happy”? How you define and determine your level of happiness could be the most important thing you ever do in your life. This takes ongoing effort but is so worth it because it will impact your work, your relationships and your overall contentment. In this lecture, we’ll discuss the foundational pillars of happiness and how you can choose to be happy, regardless of your life
Energy can be dense and energy can be light. Burning up and opening the hips can bring a sense of steadiness that will translate into lightness. There needs to be strength and flexibility, as well as proper understanding of alignment and engagement. This class will cover all of these topics. We will focus on poses that specifically detail the hips and twists for standing and floor postures. Exhilaration can be experienced through the practice of these asanas (poses) once proper understanding is realized. Pearls, such as anatomical positioning and body mechanics, will help the student grasp the building blocks necessary for fearless determination during practice that will eventually lead to the blossoming of arm-balancing. For RYT(Registered Yoga Teachers), attending this intensive will provide for you 4 contact hours toward Yoga Alliance renewal.
This original lecture reviews recently published research and the latest technology documenting some unique female training advantages. This ultramodern lecture is a ‘must attend’ for any fitness professional who trains female clients and for those female fitness enthusiasts who strive to attain the most optimal physiological benefits from their training.

Re-define and explore your body's balance systems using the BOSU® Balance Trainer and a soft-touch weighted ball, and walk away with a whole new perspective on balance. More than just your ability to stand on one leg, balance signifies both the starting and ending point of human movement, and this workshop will show you how to train complementary aspects of balance to improve proprioception, strength and flexibility. You'll also gain some mind/body-based methods for enhancing stability and mobility from simple sitting to gait training. Note: This workshop focuses on barefoot training, however, please bring a pair of shoes or sneakers as well.
Our foot, by design, should properly dissipate ground reaction forces through our innate loading response and dense network of sensory receptors. However, exercising with traditional shoes does not enhance foot or ankle function; some studies suggest that traditional footwear impairs the foot’s perception of reaction forces, resulting in increased stress to the body. This workshop prepares fitness pros to integrate foot-fitness into current programming. You’ll experiment with some of your favorite resistance and cardio exercises, and return home with a new methodology, which you can apply “on Monday.”
