Eric Aglia is the newest Zumba Education Specialist (ZES) chosen to release Zumba Fitness' newest program Zumba Step. Prior to this he was a Zumba Jammers (an instructor authorized to specialize in Zumba choreography). Eric and wife Corrie were the creators and past owners of Cottonwood Dance & Fitness as well as the first husband and wife team instructors in AZ. Eric has performed on stage with Zumba Fitness Creator Beto Perez in the Orlando, LA, and Lille France. He is also featured in numerous instructional DVDs for Zumba Fitness Instructors. Most recently Eric is one of the featured instructors for the 2013 Zumba Fitness Video Game,"World Party".

 

Julz Arney

Julz Arney embodies all-out energy and motivation! As an AFAA and ACE-certified Group Fitness Instructor with 22 years in the fitness business, she initially carved out her unique space as a dance-exercise expert, choreographing and starring in dozens of top-selling DVD programs. Today she’s evolved to be the Education Programs Director and Lead Master Trainer for Schwinn® Cycling in North America, a master trainer for Indo-Row™, SHOCKWAVE, BOSU®, and Gatorade, and a dedicated student of yoga with a big-time running addiction who gives back to her community teaching free Yoga classes at local schools and churches. She has been honored as Instructor of the Year by CanFitPro and recognized as one of the world's top three instructors by IDEA. She is a social media and marketing consultant to major fitness brands, an "Ask the Expert" blogger for the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and a respected author for industry publications.

 

Rossie Ballard

Rossie Ballard, happily married wife and proud mother of two beautiful girls, comes to the R.I.P.P.E.D. Team with over 20 years in the Fitness Industry as an Instructor, Personal Trainer, and Fitness Coordinator. She holds a degree in Tourism & Business Administration and is nationally certified through ACE, AFAA, and AEA. When she’s not teaching Group Exercises classes or training her clients one on one, Rossie enjoys competing in marathons and fitness competitions. She's traveled across the country training hundreds of fitness professionals for R.I.P.P.E.D.-The One Stop Body Shock and is the Latin American Ambassador for the program.

 

Constance Contursi and Kevin Barker

Constance Contursi Barker(ACE/AFAA) and Kevin Barker, aka DJ KJ® (CSCS, B.S.) are National Presenters for the Hit It!® Kickbox and P.O.W.E.R. brand. Their extensive cardio kickbox and high intensity interval style P.O.W.E.R. trainings leave instructors motivated, educated and inspired to teach at a level unseen by many group fitness participants. Both Constance and Kevin are strong leaders and role models in the fitness industry with a talent for public-speaking and presenting. They are known for their Live Hit It!® Kickbox performances in the Chicago Nightclub scene fusing fitness and nightlife all into one event. Gail Barranda Rivas is a Senior Master Trainer and Presenter for Masala Bhangra®. Casey Stutzman

Casey Stutzman is an ACE & AFAA certified trainer, and has been actively involved in the fitness industry since 2004. Since 2006, he has acted as the Director of Education at Bay Athletic Club in Alpena, Michigan where he also teaches boot camp, small group training, one-on-one personal training and other workouts. Casey uses his experience as a Division I college football player, amateur bodybuilding competitor, strongman competitor and endurance athlete to help others reach their fitness goals. He has worked with, and developed strength and conditioning programs for several local sports teams and organizations. In 2012, Casey teamed up with Hedstrom Fitness to develop programming for Surge™, a cylindrical training tool that uses water as resistance. As a Surge™, BOSU® and IGNITE 360 Certified Master Trainer and TRX Master Instructor, he travels internationally to educate fitness professionals.

Donna Thomas

Donna is currently the group fitness manager at Blooomingdale Life Time Fitness, Donna has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years. Certified through AFAA and ACE for group fitness and ACE and NASM for personal training, Donna has looked for ways to bridge the gap between these fields that, at first glance, seem so similar. Add nutrition coaching to the mix and you have a fusion that combines these orientations into one unified front.

 

Matt Truscott

Matt Truscott’s charismatic and enthusiastic presentation style make him a popular presenter on international schedules. Having owned and run a successful personal training business in San Francisco he delivers sound scientific knowledge with confidence and passion. More recently Matt joined FitPro, leading education provider, to become part of the international development team that created group fitness programming for the ViPR tool. Since then he has taken a position to manage the continued development of ViPR programs and ViPR trainers for both Personal Training and Group Fitness. Matt’s passion is to share his knowledge and experience and develop other fitness professionals.

 

Helen Vanderburg

Helen Vanderburg, BPE, is owner of Heavens Elevated Fitness Club and Fusion Fitness Training™. With over 30 year of experience in club management, program development and motivational speaking she brings a wealth of experience to her presentations worldwide. She is the recipient of many industry awards, including the 2013 CanFitPro Presenter of the Year, 2005 IDEA Instructor of the Year, and an elite athlete as a former World Champion synchronized swimmer and honored member of the Sports Hall of Fame. Tony Witt Tony Witt is the co-owner and Head Choreographer for Amorè Dance in Kansas City. He is also an international presenter and Zumba ® Education Specialist. Tony has had the distinct pleasure of traveling across the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia helping to grow ZUMBA worldwide. He has presented at IDEA, Club Industry, SCW, DCAC, CanFit Pro, AFAA Taiwan, AEA and Nike Asia. Tony is certified with AFAA, ACE, AEA, CFP, NDCA and NTA.

Q: Why is Thursday considered a "special event" day?

A: Thursday, September 22 and Friday, September 23 are considered Pre-Conference event days.  When you register for the EMPOWER! conference weekend, Thursday and the morning/day is not included in the weekend event package (Fri-Sun).  If you are interested in participating in an intensive or certification on Thursday or Friday, you will need to seperately register for each individual class.

Q: How does course selection work?

A: For EMPOWER! upon registration you will be able to select your sessions. We limit the number of registrations to ensure as many attendees as possible receive all their first choice selections at the event and can easily make changes throughout the weekend at will.

Q: When can I check in?

A: You can check in at the event registration desk starting each day at the following times:

Q: What will I receive at check in?


A: You will receive your check-in packet containing a schedule, wristband or ticket, and a goody bag.



Q: What should I bring?


A: Bring a photo i.d., your registration confirmation letter, exercise apparel, a water bottle, and money for lunch and shopping at the expo.



Q: How do I get a receipt?


A:  If you register online, you can print a copy of your receipt at the time of registration. If you mail or fax your registration, you can pick up a copy of your receipt at the event.

 

CECs

Q: What are CECs?


A: CEC stands for Continuing Education Credit (also referred to as CEU or Continuing Education Unit). You receive CECs by attending fitness-related educational workshops. Typically, certification organizations require that instructors earn a certain number of CECs to maintain and renew their certificates. Check with your certifying organization regarding specific requirements.



Q: How many CECs will I get for each class?


A: Each workshop equals .1/1.0 to .2/2.0 CECs from ACE, NASM, AFAA, AEA, AAAI/ISMA and NETA.



Q: How do I get my CECs for attending this event?


A: You can pick up your certificate at the event.
